Hi, y’all! Welcome to the wedding blog, a journal about my couples, weddings, travel, and family. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm Julia

Lucy + Luke

Weddings

Family Farm House Wedding | Charlottesville VA

So imagine It is 6:30 in the morning, there’s a nip to the air and a lingering mist from a rain storm the night before. As soon as I knocked on the door, the mist seems to clear as Lucy’s mother welcomes me with a warm smile and a hot cup of coffee. As she walked me through their beautiful old farmhouse, she mentioned that the weather might be breaking from the expected downpour, and we all hoped for sun. I mean, it couldn’t rain all day, right?

No this was not the big wedding Lucy and Luke had originally planned. Not only did COVID-19 completely postpone their original date, but then the threat of forecasted heavy rains all day didn’t make anything easy. These two banded together and with their closest family and friends to plan and organize the perfect intimate wedding. Their wedding was complete with a handmade floral arch, a puppy ring bearer, and a zoom broadcasted ceremony.  The  day was magical. Even the rain stopped and the sun came out creating the most beautiful heavenly light.

Although the world was shut down, Lucy was able to procure her wedding dress, a task today that seems to be close to impossible! She was so excited to put it on, she said it “looks like sunshine”! The dress truly was made for Lucy.  Covered in  beautiful lace appliqués, peaks of gold and sparkle, vintage button work , and a floral crystal belt as the final touch! To say Lucy looked angelic is an understatement!

Lucy and Luke’s first look was one that I will remember forever. They were so excited! They spent a whole 10 minutes gushing over each other!  Sharing laughs, a few happy tears, and plenty of sweet kisses and Love.

Since they couldn’t have all their guests in person, they did the next best thing and zoomed their wedding ceremony.  It was amazing and at the end they got to say hello to all their  family and friends that were unable to attend.

Lucy and Luke, your day was so magically beautiful and such a representation of life. When faced with obstacles that you can’t change or control, like the world getting hit with a pandemic or threat of torrential rain on your wedding day. If you focus on what matters most, and work together, you will overcome! With the strength of your love and the support of your loved ones, you can weather any storm. Remember the sun always finds a way to break through!

I love this sweet family so much! It was an honor to have been a part of your day, capturing the beginning of your story, as husband & wife!! Enjoy my favorites from this beautiful Charlottesville Farm House Wedding!
