Hi, y’all! Welcome to the wedding blog, a journal about my couples, weddings, travel, and family. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm Julia

Kayla + Jake

Weddings

The Inn at Ragged Edge Wedding | Chambersburg, PA

Let’s pretend you’re me. It’s 10 am on a Tuesday, my children are quietly playing  and I am getting settled in my office, about to start work for the day when “PING!”,  my facebook messenger goes off.  I see that it is a message from one of my brides that says “Hi Julia, rather odd request for you but ….” .  Well of course you got my attention! My heart starts beating faster and my mind starts going a million miles a minute! In this time of COVID, I have become accustomed to couples canceling or postponing their weddings, so I brace my nerves and  open the notification to find: “Hi Julia, rather odd request for you but Jake and I decided to continue with our wedding plans and have our big wedding in September…”(OH YAY!!) “… but we also are planning on having a very private elopement this Saturday evening with just our parents and our son…” (Ohh Wow!) “… I wanted to see if you would be available to travel to Pennsylvania Saturday evening just to capture a little bit of our elopement in addition to our regular wedding in September.”  I scramble to my calendar not remembering if I had any prior engagements! And I DON’T ! WOOHOOO! I am so excited!  I message her back immediately and within an hour I have all the new details for this couple’s amazing elopement!

Ask anyone who has planned a wedding, and they will tell you, it isn’t easy. Most couples usually give themselves 6 months to a year just for planning.  So when Kayla told me they were pulling an audible and planning a small wedding in 3 days I was all in!!  Now when I say they had three days to plan their wedding, I mean they had to plan everything!! They didn’t have their marriage license, a venue, wedding dress, flowers, caterer,  or  a cake. But they came together as a couple and family and made magic happen! From the dress to the Venue, everything was flawless.

From start to finish Kayla and Jake’s day was beautiful. They wanted their wedding to be a surprise to extended family and friends. So they crafted their guest list to include their son, parents, and two closest friends and broadcasted their ceremony, for everyone else on facebook! So everyone could celebrate together.

Kayla and Jake’s ceremony was full of precious little moments that I will remember forever! Although Kayla was the center of attention looking absolutely stunning in her dress. My favorite part of the day was watching Jake’s reaction, seeing her for the first time. He laughed, cried, buckled at the knees and everything in-between. He was SO SWEET! Waylon, their son, stole my heart when he ran up giving hugs and kisses to the just presented newlyweds, saying “HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mama!”. Oh and did I mention the LIGHT? It was absolutely magical! Flooding through the trees creating such a brilliant GLOW!

It was a perfect day and a great way to continue this crazy COVID wedding season! I have fallen in love with this amazing family and it was such an honor to have been a part of your day. I can’t wait to do it all over again in September!! Enjoy my favorites from this beautiful Pennsylvania Inn Wedding!
