Magical Potomac River Engagement | The Pavilion at Weatherly Farms

Y’all 2021 wedding season is finally in full swing and I am ready to get back to blogging. I took a pretty long hiatus but I am back in full force. I am re-energized and excited to share all the amazing and exciting things I have been up to. There is no better way to start off my blogging season than with KALYN + JAMES. These two are so amazing! I know I say that about all my couples, but I really do have the best clients.

Kalyn + James’ engagement session was an absolute dream. We spent our afternoon strolling the banks of the Potomac River taking in the glorious water views that Weatherly Farms has to offer. Our connection was instantaneous and we fell easily into conversation about wedding planning and life. As we walked down to the dock, Kalyn told me all about their dream of starting their own commercial crabbing company! As an entrepreneur myself I was giddy with excitement to hear all about their endeavors. Not only are these two titans of industry, but they are also extremely passionate about keeping family tradition and legacy alive in their pursuits. How inspiring and authentic is that?!

As we continued to our second location of the day, I mentioned that I would love to grab a few detailed shots of Kalyn’s ring. James was inspired and thought it would be cool if we could include some shells. So he headed down to the small little beach area to see if he could find any to use. (Guys this was all James’ idea, how freaking sweet is He! ). Kalyn and I watched as James disappeared over the embankment. Moments later he returns with a very excited look. Not only did James return with some shells but more serendipitously he had found the most perfect sun kissed crab shell. And although I would never have thought to include something like this in an engagement session, this little gem was the perfect find to make their detail shots so uniquely them.

Kalyn + James are so incredibly well suited for each other with each complimenting the other so perfectly. I can’t wait to watch these two go further on this journey in this new season of life. These two entrepreneurs have so much vigor and tenacity for life and their new adventures and I am so excited to see where it takes them. So while we wait for their wedding this fall, I’ll just have to reminisce about our afternoon swooning through some of my favorite images and follow their company’s ’Stout’s Seafood’ journey on social media.
